South Missouri Ozarks Riverfront Home Location Seeking Tip:
If big motors and jet skis are your thing, try the Current River! They have big motors there. This Eleven Point River is a natural, non-big motor river! We have a friend that runs 460 hp on the Current River for the Fast minded, just 20 miles away! Here are a few features of each river in the Ozarks southeast paddling region!
-
Eleven Point River - 25 Hp Limit above 142 bridge, mostly paddled in the upper stretches, navigational river, natural river, secluded, with thousands of acres of US parks property. Very hard to find private property, especially without easement. Alton is the nearest town, beautiful small town red brick square with great restaurants, county seat.
-
Current River - Big motors in the lower parts of the river near Doniphan. 70 mph seen frequently in recreational weekend times with jet skis and cigarette boats on steroids, quiet other times. Upper sections are paddling areas. Easements preventing building also apply in many areas of this river. Navigational rights apply for paddlers and boaters. This river runs more CFS, cubic feet per second, volume of water than many of the smaller rivers due to the large square mile area that drains into the current. She does get "big.", but is indeed a larger and wider river towards the bottom (in the Missouri stretch).
-
Jacks Fork River - Easement River, can get close with private property ownership, but difficult to get on the water for a home. The Jacks Fork flows into the Current. Eminence is the closest town, a paddling hub for float trip visitors.
-
North Fork Of the White River - Beautiful home ownership area below state park, in lower sections towards Dawt Mill. Wonderful area for recreational homes. Prices are rising rapidly! Gainesville is the Nearest town
-
Bryant Creek - Natural creek like atmosphere! Water does get low! Very paddlable many years, some dry years can make it difficult. Lower sections are slower water, upper sections are creeklike. She rages when high, so watch for flood plain carefully. Private ownership along entire creek with mostly acreages, some subdivided 8 acre lots. This has a "back in there feeling" much accessable by long "dirt roads" as we call them. Gainesville is the nearest town, county seat.
