It's Simple! Inspect and you are protected!

  • ORC shipping guarantee!  Inspect and refuse back to us for substantial damage.  We will replace it!  (Please be able to unwrap and inspect your boat for shipment damage upon receipt to qualify for this coverage.  It is our responsibility until you inspect and receive it!)

  • ORC packaging guarantee!  We double wrap most shipped boats for premium packaging!  (Additional packaging protection is the best prevention!  Quick and sweet!)

  • Old Town Canoe and Kayak Company, Authorized Dealership - With a fully backed Factory One Year Warranty! (ORC serves warranty issues for the factory!  Problem?  Call the folks that provided your boat for you!

  Inspect your canoe or kayak when it arrives and you are completely covered!

We will assume shipment damage of your boat until you look it over when you get it.  This is our "extreme ORC guarantee"!  The boat is then yours when you sign for it.  Then it becomes your property!  Check your boat over when you receive it, and if you see shipment damage that compromises the boat, note it on the truck line paperwork as you sign for it, or refuse it back to us!  Read the entire paragraphs below please.  It tells you what to do in case of damage.  We now have an ORC shipping guarantee that is the best in the industry to protect you.  Please be easy on our carriers for light scratches or small dents, with no cuts.  These will too result with use as that is normal wear.

If the boat is damaged bad, do not receive the boat!  Refuse it.  (Royalex does not apply.  Ask for claim form information and you will be paid directly from the shipper with your own claim that is filed). In all cases, sign the paperwork, "Refused due to Damage"!  For non Royalex material, send it back to us!  We'll deal with it!  This is an ORC shipping guarantee program!  We will take the boat back and send a replacement of equal or greater value with your payment for the difference for the higher priced boat.  If an exact replacement is in stock you replacement goes out to you soon after we receive your boat and have time to prepare for shipment for the next week's Friday shipment date.  This will happen after we receive your boat back for inspection.  If your exact replacement boat is out of stock, you also have the option to wait for the next load to get the exact replacement at no charge unless they are no longer available or Old Town is out of stock, that being out of our control.  Please allow the time it takes for the process to work.  Your patience is all that is requested in these cases.  We only send replacements in these cases, no refunds.

For a more minor repairable damage you may keep the boat and deal with it.  If you would like to handle yourself, you can go ahead and receive the boat and patch it with a sealer, or note the damage when you sign once again, and this will allow you to initiate a claim for your shipping coverage for a portional damage amount for yourself.  You can do that through your driver, or call the truck line and they will take it from there.  It is; a form, digital pics, a claim amount you request with receipts on the boat purchase, and a pretty lengthy wait sometimes.  We are not responsible for any claims for boats you choose to keep and do yourself.  We will assist with paperwork that might be required if needed.  Again what ever you do, note it on the bill you sign that it is received damaged!

If you find something minor such as a scratch or dent we ask that you be gentle to our shipper as well as us, as we try not to pick on the carrier for the little things, as when you throw your boat in your pickup truck a few times, or drag it across a few shoals on the river, that these will blend in with the rest of the "experience" that your boat will endure with normal use.  If you worry that much about scratching your boat it takes the fun out of it!  We have fantastic success with our carriers and are great people! 

If you are taking a day off read this!  Call them in the morning of your delivery to the phone number on the website!!!  It might save a wasted day!  It cost nothing for you to call them to work it out.  They will charge extra to call you for an appointment.  Feel free to call them to hook up, just like a friend bringing you something!

Our chosen carrier's shipping transit time?  The transit time estimates have been extraordinary in our experience, but understand if they are late it is out of our control, but in our experience they are early in some cases, if not correctly right on schedule!  Seldom are they late

Frequently Asked Questions

Commercial locations for commercial rates do not include: "residentially zoned" home businesses no matter how profitable, schools, churches, construction sites or trailers, military bases are classified as limited access.  The up charge for a residential or limited access delivery is typically about $63, our cost.

Can I call the truck line to see when my boat will be here?  Sure!  For the truck line to call you to set up a delivery is "an appointment" and we are charged accordingly.  For you to call them is free of charge!

Do I have a Warranty?  Yes, a one year factory warranty!  Our boats include the standard Factory One year Warranty against Manufacturer's defects.  All of ORC's new canoes and kayaks are sold with a full one year factory warranty against defects that compromise boat use provided and outlined by the Manufacturer.  Warranties will be serviced by us but not implied by us. (not including cosmetic blemishes if one can be found, or physical damage from use.)
